I learned about real friendship at a men’s gathering last week. Sam, (a real friend of mine), was sharing with the guys how friendships are forged together. [forge – to make, especially by concentrated effort] He explained that a true and real friendship needs to be consistent, connected, and transparent.
Friendship
I see an example of friendship in these logs. Each individual log has its own character marks, even flaws. Each log has its own strengths, yet weak areas. Each log is in its own position, some higher than others, but all important. Yet, they are forged together. Cut, whittled, placed, constructed, designed, molded, made to fit engineered………..simply put, they have been forged.
.
Why must friendships be forged? To remain tight, bonded, permanent, true, and real.
The creator of this house forged these individual logs into something bigger and better.
Our Creator is forging us into something bigger and better. John 15:15-16 says, “I no longer call you servants, (individual tree)….but I call you friends. You did not choose me, but I chose you….(part of His log home)
Read the entire chapter of John 15. Let God show you how to have and be a true friend.
When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. Henri Nouwen
